← Back to marketing siteWhat we collect
- Study progress & preferences: Your selected JLPT level, streaks, goal targets, SRS intervals, and swipe tutorial state are stored locally using Apple’s UserDefaults API (declared in PrivacyInfo.xcprivacy as CA92.1 – “Store small pieces of data on the device”). This data never leaves your device.
- Notification permissions (optional): If you enable study reminders, SimplyKanji stores the schedule on-device and uses Apple’s notification APIs. We do not collect device tokens or push data to external servers.
- Support emails: When you contact support@simplykanji.app we receive the information you choose to share in that message. This data is used only to answer your request.
How we use your data
- Schedule spaced-repetition reviews, calculate streaks, and highlight weak kanji inside the app.
- Remember your interface preferences (e.g., selected level, onboarding completion) to keep sessions fast.
- Deliver optional local notifications at times you choose.
We do not run analytics SDKs, advertisements, or third-party trackers. SimplyKanji does not share data with marketing networks or sell personal information.
Data retention & deletion
All study progress resides on your iPhone inside UserDefaults. Remove the app to delete the data, or reset it manually by erasing the app’s storage in iOS Settings. If you need assistance removing support emails or have a unique request, contact us and we will respond within 30 days.
Required Apple disclosures
- No data types are marked as “collected for tracking.”
- Accessed APIs: UserDefaults (reason code CA92.1) as documented in PrivacyInfo.xcprivacy. No other restricted APIs are used.
- Data is processed strictly on-device. Any future cloud sync will be opt-in and will update this policy before launch.
Children’s privacy
SimplyKanji is built for self-motivated learners and is not directed to children under 13. We do not knowingly collect information from children. If we learn that a child has provided data, we will delete it promptly after being notified.
